The best free ADHD planner apps in 2026 (what's actually free)

Lots of apps say free and mean a 7-day trial. These eight have a free version you can actually keep using, and this page says what's in it and what isn't, so there are no surprises.

Updated 6 November 2026. Facts from each app's own pages.

I read each app's own site, help pages and US store listing on 6 November 2026, and we recheck every month. I make Yoodoo, so I'm biased; that's why every app gets a 'not for you if', ours included. Nobody paid to be on this list.

Why I wrote this

I've used all of these, and I make Yoodoo, so I'm biased. I care about this one, because a planner you can't afford isn't a planner. I've tried to be really specific about what each free version gives you.

1. Best free planner for days that slip

YoodooThat's us

An ADHD day planner that bends when your day breaks. Your tasks and calendar go on one timeline, and when something runs over, one tap fits the rest of the day around what really happened.

My take: Mine, so weigh that. Lite is free for good: the Day view, Fix my day, Reschedule the rest, the focus timer, one list, one habit and one calendar on your timeline.

Good at

  • Free in Lite: the Day view, any day
  • Free in Lite: Fix my day and Reschedule the rest
  • Free in Lite: the focus timer, Siri and the Today widget
  • Free in Lite: one list, one quick pick, one habit or routine, and one calendar on your timeline

Not for you if

  • You want the blocker, Ask Yoodoo or two-way calendar sync for free (they're Pro)
  • You want lots of lists and habits for free (Lite has one list and one habit)
  • You need it in a language other than English, for now
Price
Lite is free. Pro is $59.99 a year (7 days free), $7.99 a month or $149.99 once

2. Best free visual timeline

Structured

A clean, visual day planner that puts your tasks and calendar on one timeline. Tidy, quick and cheap, with a good free version.

My take: The free version is genuinely good: timeline, inbox, subtasks, notes and widgets. Calendar import, recurring tasks and Replan are Pro.

Good at

  • Free: timeline tasks, inbox, subtasks and notes
  • Free: icons, colours and widgets (iPhone and Android)
  • Clean and quick

Not for you if

  • You want your calendar imported or recurring tasks for free (they're Pro, its help centre says)
  • You're on Android and want Replan (Apple only)
Price
Free version. Pro is $29.99 a year or $99.99 lifetime on the US App Store (it lists other prices too)
Runs on
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Android (fewer features) and web

3. Best free visual planner

Tiimo

A calm, colourful visual planner, and Apple's iPhone App of the Year for 2025. It has a free version, with Pro adding things like AI task breakdown.

My take: Tiimo's free version is a selection of its planning tools on the phone apps. The web planner is Pro.

Good at

  • A gentle, icon-led schedule
  • iPad and Apple Watch apps
  • A good free version

Not for you if

  • You want the web planner for free (it's Pro)
  • You want your plans to sync back to your calendar: Tiimo imports calendars, it doesn't sync both ways
Price
Free version. Tiimo Pro is listed at $54 on the US App Store (it lists other Pro prices too)
Runs on
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android and web

4. Best free all-in-one

Lunatask

Tasks, habits, mood, a journal and notes in one end-to-end encrypted app, with time blocking and task timers. It says it was designed with ADHD brains in mind.

My take: The free plan is generous: time blocking, task timers, notes, mood and journaling. It caps areas of life and habits, and calendar integrations are Premium.

Good at

  • Free: time blocking, task timers, notes, mood and journal
  • Free: up to 7 daily habits and 2 areas of life
  • Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and Android

Not for you if

  • You want calendar integrations for free (they're Premium)
  • You want something that plans for you rather than a toolbox you set up
Price
Free plan. Premium is $6 a month billed yearly, or $8 monthly
Runs on
Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and Android

5. Best free to-do list

Todoist

One of the best-known to-do list apps, with fast capture, projects and sharing, on nearly every device.

My take: Todoist's free plan gives you up to five personal projects and task reminders. The calendar layout is Pro.

Good at

  • Free: up to 5 personal projects
  • Free: task reminders
  • Every platform, Wear OS included

Not for you if

  • You want a calendar layout for free (it's Pro)
  • You want your day laid out in real time on a timeline
Price
Free plan. Pro is $60 a year ($5 a month billed yearly) or $7 monthly
Runs on
iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, web, Apple Watch and Wear OS

6. Best free helper for getting started

Goblin Tools

A set of small, single-job AI tools, mainly built for neurodivergent people. Magic ToDo breaks a task into steps; others estimate how long things take, change the tone of a message, and turn a brain dump into a list.

My take: Completely free on the web, no ads. Not a planner, but brilliant for breaking tasks down.

Good at

  • Breaking a scary task into tiny steps
  • Free on the web, with no ads
  • Cheap phone app

Not for you if

  • You want a planner: there's no timeline or calendar
  • You need reminders through the day
Price
Free on the web. The iPhone app is $0.99 on the US App Store, with an optional Pro at $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year
Runs on
Web, iPhone, iPad and Android

7. Best free self-care app

Finch

A self-care app where you look after a little bird by looking after yourself: goals, mood check-ins, journaling and breathing.

My take: Free to download and lots of people use it without paying. Plus adds more, but the store page doesn't spell out what.

Good at

  • Making small daily habits feel kind and fun
  • Mood and reflection
  • Free to start

Not for you if

  • You need to plan a working day around meetings
  • You want time blocks and timers
Price
Free download. Finch Plus prices vary; the US App Store lists them from $5.99 to $69.99
Runs on
iPhone, iPad and Android

8. Best free focus timer

Focus Friend

A focus timer with a little bean who knits while you focus. Finishing sessions earns things for the bean's room.

My take: Free, and Pro is cheap. A lovely timer to sit next to any of the planners above.

Good at

  • Making a focus session feel like a game
  • Deep Focus mode to lock distracting apps
  • Cheap

Not for you if

  • You need a plan for the whole day: it's a timer, not a planner
Price
Free. Pro is $19.99 a year or $3.99 a month on the US App Store
Runs on
iPhone, iPad and Android

Free, trial, or freemium?

  • Free for good: a free version you can keep using. Every app on this page.
  • Free trial: everything for a few days, then you pay or lose it. Llama Life, Sunsama, Amazing Marvin and Motion work like this, so they’re not on this list.
  • Watch the card: some trials ask for a card up front. Yoodoo’s 7 days free are the store’s own trial on Yearly; tap Not now and Lite starts straight away, no card.

What to look for in a free ADHD planner

The free version should cover the part of your day that goes wrong. If that’s re-planning, check the free version can re-plan (Yoodoo Lite’s Fix my day can). If it’s starting, check for a focus timer. If it’s seeing the day, check the timeline is free. See all twelve in the best ADHD planner apps.

Try Yoodoo free

Bring your calendar in, brain dump your lists, and the first time something runs over, try Fix my day. See exactly what’s in Lite and Pro.
